Frequently Asked Questions

  • Neither really, Onyx Oxide Entertainment is really just a more neutral sounding alias for Alexander Rogers Cromwell to publish content under. Other than occaisional sales or royalties collected by Distrokid for music distribution, Onyx Oxide Entertainment can not be considered a company. Most art made by Alexander Rogers Cromwell / Onyx Oxide Entertainment is available for free on Internet Archive .

  • Around 2023 or so, we started experimenting with AI tech. We do not use AI in the creation of our original music except for the final mastering process, the AI process that takes place during mastering is a simple EQ, compression, and volume adjustment. We started doing this with Augmented Illusions - Enhanced Edition, released July 10, 2025.

AI is used in our visual content (albiet heavily edited most of the time). We used AI for photo editing with Augmented Illusions - Enhanced Edition, released July 10, 2025. We then started using AI more frequently for visual material in late 2025. Numerous issues with restrictions on filming in our area, coupled with a lack of time and resources has made utilizing AI particularly effective in creating new content after many years of stagnation. We intend to utilize AI more in the future as the technology improves, but it is important to note that the prompts are written by Alexander Rogers Cromwell and the work created is from my warped psyche, not an algorithm. Also we do not use AI unethically or source or inputs from copyrighted images (unless we are licensed and/or authorized to utilize said copyrighted works in that manner).

  • Unfortunately it will be very difficult to contact us, I advise leaving a comment on one of our Youtube videos.

I do not have a lot of time available to reply to comments, and as I DO NOT do collaborations it is unlikely that there is any need to contact me anyways. Feel free to comment on our Youtube and X pages.

  • NO. There is no Onyx Oxide Facebook Page or Onyx Oxide Instagram Page. There are also no pages for 3RX1 or Alexander Cromwell. WE DO NOT USE FACEBOOK OR INSTAGRAM. IF YOU SEE A PAGE CLAIMING TO BE ONYX OXIDE, 3RX1, OR ALEXANDER CROMWELL IT IS FALSE AND SHOULD BE AVOIDED AT ALL COSTS.

  • We are currently working on our debut video game, while I have released interactive media in the past, this new product is unlike anything we’ve ever worked on. Music is still worked on from time to time, but I’ve really been burned out on music after years of releasing tracks to an invisible ghost audience.

  • Onyx Oxide does not utilize unauthorized or unlicensed copyrighted content in productions that use AI we also do not use AI to manipulate images of actual people (with the exception of photos of Alexander Rogers Cromwell, myself)

AI (not AGI) is a tool, it all depends on how it is being utilized and who is operating it. AI can be used ethically and unethically, like a paint brush you could paint something original or you could paint a third party’s IP and infringe on their intellectual property, deepfake someone or worse. The choice is yours, I HIGHLY encourage that you don’t reproduce or steal third party content, make deepfakes, or make illegal content with AI.

My point is that it is ABSURD to call AI tools unethical, unimaginative, or lazy when it really depends on a number of variables like the artist’s intention, the input, the prompt, the final result, the editing that’s being done with other programs afterwards, etc.

We support the use of AI tools to enable creativity and assist with the world’s many horrible problems. We feel that (LOCALLY RUN OPEN SOURCE AI) is absolutely neccessary in today’s world.

THERE IS ONE MORE THING THAT IS WORTH NOTING: While online AI tools can be convenient, they are usually full of restrictions on what they can do. Also with most online AIs you have to pay subscription fees or get special API permissions, also let’s not forget that your info is more than likely not private and might be utilized for AI training without your conscent! We believe that this is obvious greed on the part of certain AI companies and also an attempt to control how you use their products and harvest your data.

Personally, I advise you to get a good GPU setup and run open source models locally without an internet connection, and make sure to back up your models!

Our stance on AGI: Good luck, these organics are freakin’ nuts. Also thumbs up.

  • I never have had a compulsion to break the law, very disturbing indeed.

I feel like this world is not what it seems, that’s all I’ll say.

But in all honesty, hell if I know, I’m no physician.

  • Yes, but unlike some vegans I’m not going to try to convince you into being vegan, that’s pointless as that’s YOUR decision to make (there are trade-offs. )

I DO NOT agree with the perpetuation of animal based commodities, animal exploitation, and cruelty to animals, but I won’t bother you about it, just don’t involve me in your meaty antics please.

Also be aware that you can be an unhealthy vegan, so many processed vegan foods are terrible for you. Be vegan wisely if you choose to do so.

  • No point in hiding it.

  • Yes that was me, I first used Game Maker 7 in 2007, I was known as gameargus and alexcromwellvp on Yoyo games back in the late 2000s-early 2010s. As for the games, they are currently not available, we are working on a way to make them available for free download, but unfortunately some of the games contain unauthorized assets. Chances are if they are released it will be on Internet Archive, I’m not sure if the games that contain that unauthorized content will be available though.

The most likely candidates for being uploaded are DeathXed, the Rite Said Collection and Hospital 3D III, there is also a game from 2014 that I never finished that might be uploaded in an incomplete form.
